Let summer begin!

The second that the kids got home from school they decided to break out the slip-n-slide and swimming suits. Then that night we fired up our new fire-pit and roasted hot dogs and smores. We were excited to get out and go hiking one Saturday up Swift Creek Canyon. We were all hiking along this kind of steep and narrow trail, with Kennady in the lead when all of a sudden she lets out this scream. DEAD DEER!! Right in the middle of the trail was a little baby fawn but when we looked closer it was still breathing. We tried to help it up, not sure if we should even touch it or not, and took it over into some shade.  It started to stand up and show a little bit of a fight to live. By this time the kids were begging to take it home and bottle feed it like we did with the lamb but Jake explained to them how we could get in trouble for bringing it out of the canyon. So, with the kids crying we left it there and then hurried to the Forest Service Department to let them know about it and they said that they would go check on it. It was so cool to be able to see this little fawn but also heartbreaking to leave it there.
