Brooke's archery competition

Brooke qualified to go to the National Archery Competition in Louisville, Kentucky. On May 10th, Cody and I flew to Kentucky with Brooke and our good friends the Madsen's. Their son, Caleb, also qualified so we decided to split the cost of a hotel room and car rental.  Jake had to work, so thankfully the Madsen's let us tag along with them the whole trip.  The first morning in Louisville was our school's scheduled time to compete,  so we headed off to the Expo center.  Brooke shot well considering the circumstances. The Expo center was huge and there was so many kids competing(about 10,000), ranging from 4th grade to high schoolers. Unfortunately our school was placed next to a pretty intimidating army school from New Mexico. The boys shooting right next to Brooke were teenagers wearing their army gear but I feel that she handled the situation the best she could.  She didn't shoot her best but I was so proud of her for trying and staying positive. Overall it was a great experience for her and hopefully she will be able to come back again next year.
The next couple of days we were able to rent a car and go sight seeing and explore Louisville.

Brooke shot a perfect 50 during a practice a couple of weeks before we headed to Kentucky.(her arrows are the red and yellow)   Her coaches said she was the first girl that they had seen get a perfect score and they knew of only one other boy to shoot a 50.

Caleb and Brooke ready to head to the SLC airport.

Brooke's 2nd time flying. She was only two when she flew the first time so she was a little nervous and excited. She liked flying expect for landing.

Meeting the morning of the competition

No pressure Brooke!

A couple of weeks before coming to Kentucky, Brooke did her History Fair project on Abraham Lincoln so it was fun for her to see his actual birthplace.

We went to the longest go cart track in the U.S.

Brooke loved swimming in the hotel's pool.

Oreo

In April we decided to get a bum lamb for a 4-H project this summer for our kids. The kids named it Oreo because it is a black and white speckled lamb. We bottled fed it 3 times a day for two months which was a lot of work but also so fun for the kids and myself.  It brought back good memories for me when I was little and bottle-feeding lambs and calves.  Hopefully my kids like it as much as I do.

Coming home with Oreo on Brooke's lap.

So Cute!! Only 3 weeks old.

In June, Tyler and I went to a 4-H camp at the fairgrounds. We learned  a lot about shearing and showing lambs.  Who knew there was so much to learn about lambs!

Tyler was able to have hands on practice at washing and shearing with the instructors lamb.
Getting bigger!  About 3 months old.
